Eye Of The Needle feat. Sol

by Blue Child Collective

/

about

Weaving the story of a lighthouse keeper overseeing a shipping lane infamously named the “Eye Of The Needle” from his outlook at Cape Otway, this latest track from Blue Child Collective is a hooky roots-reggae tune featuring guest vocals from Shannon Sol Carroll, frontman and salty seadog of Sunshine Coast favourites Band Of Frequencies.

Accompanied by a cinematic music video by David Owen Blackley shot on the stormy South West tip of Australia, and featuring work from Dutch animator Chris Liefting, the video recreates a world existing from the treacherous art of navigation, and a lighthouse keeper sent stir crazy by the sight of it.

Featuring also Bobby Alu on drums, OJ Newcomb (Afro Dizzi Act) on bass, Ken Allars (Caravana Sun) on trumpet and PaulieB (The Beautiful Girls) on keys/percussion, this is a tune with groove.

lyrics

Drops drip on my window
I won’t go outside
While I’m warm and dry with you, with you
Hail is beating a song
And the wind is whistling through the cracks
But I’m never going back

I’ll be warm in a storm
Like a light globe watching the waves
From the shelter of its lighthouse walls
It stays illuminated
Waiting for sailors to safely pass
Through the eye of the needle

Stormy seas keep saying
To stay indoors for days
Make wonderful our view
From here inside our room
But the staircase is winding us round the bend
And the timber’s telling us both to fly
But I’ve sailed through the eye

I’ll be warm in a storm
Like a light globe watching the waves
From the shelter of its lighthouse walls
It stays illuminated
Waiting for sailors to safely pass
Through the eye of the needle

But I’m never going back, no

I would rather be warm in a storm
Like a light globe watching the waves
From the shelter of its lighthouse walls
It stays illuminated
Waiting for sailors to safely pass
Through the eye of the needle

(Sol)
Another captain threads
Through the ninety-k neck now
And the boat is met
By waves crashing on the bow
Yeah they know to expect
And batten the hatches down
Spy the light that shines;
It will find them on safe ground
